Anthropic releases updated, smarter Claude Haiku 3.5 and Sonnet 3.5 model
Anthropic has released the Claude 3.5 Haiku and Claude 3.5 Sonnet models, which exhibit marked enhancements in computational capabilities and logical reasoning. The Haiku model, accessible via the Anthropic API, Amazon Bedrock, and Google Cloud's Vertex AI, surpasses its predecessor, Claude 3 Opus, in various benchmarks while maintaining a competitive price of $1 per million input tokens and $5 for outputs.
In tandem, the Claude 3.5 Sonnet introduces a feature for computer interaction, allowing the model to execute basic screen commands through a virtual interface, despite limitations in performing complex actions. These models reflect Anthropic's commitment to enhancing AI-assisted automation, particularly in applications requiring task-specific accuracy and minimal latency. Read more.
Claude 3.5 Haiku is now available on our API, Amazon Bedrock, and Google Cloud's Vertex AI.
Haiku is fast and particularly strong at coding. It outperforms state-of-the-art models—including GPT-4o—on SWE-bench Verified, which measures how models solve real software issues.

Jeff Bezos and OpenAI invest in robot startup Physical Intelligence at $2.4 billion valuation
Physical Intelligence, a San Francisco-based robotics startup, has secured $400 million in funding, elevating its post-money valuation to $2.4 billion. Prominent investors include Jeff Bezos, OpenAI, Thrive Capital, Lux Capital, and Bond Capital, with Khosla Ventures and Sequoia Capital also listed as stakeholders.
This recent funding round represents a remarkable sixfold increase from the startup's March seed round, which was valued at $70 million. The company seeks to integrate general-purpose AI into robotics by developing large-scale models and algorithms for practical applications. With a team of alumni from Tesla, Google DeepMind, and other leading tech firms, Physical Intelligence is advancing an AI model intended as a foundational step toward achieving artificial general intelligence (AGI). Built in four days, this $120 robot arm cleans a spill with help from GPT-4o
Two researchers from UC Berkeley and ETH Zurich have fashioned a budget-friendly robotic solution for spill cleanup, engineering a $120 robot arm in only four days using GPT-4o. Jannik Grothusen and Kaspar Janssen harnessed generative AI to construct a human-robot interaction model, fine-tuning its actions with approximately 100 demonstration sequences.
We built a GPT-4o-powered cleaning robot.
